Live For the Here and Now
‘The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the ‘present’’
Alice Morse Earle
Live for the here and now. Don’t worry about what may or may not happen in the future. There have been a number of times when I’ve been guilty of worrying about what could happen in the future and how long I can live with such constant, sometimes agonising pain. In the past it filled me with a blind panic that really doesn’t help; I never used to have panic attacks but they became a regular occurrence for a while.
Equally I’ve been known to dwell on past events and it can be very hard to let go, but you have to find a way to be able to.
I learnt to let go of issues that were bothering me through having Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which in itself has helped my body to heal itself a little bit and has made me see life through a different light. Holding on to emotional tension can manifest itself physically, so it’s crucial to learn to let go and don’t dwell on the past.
So I now focus very much on the here and now, I live for the moment and appreciate what I have and try very hard not to think of the future – apart from the very positive things I intend to achieve of course!
