Potential Causes and
Contributory Factors
Fibromyalgia is classed as a neurological disorder, as it causes problems in the way the central nervous system processes signals. This misfiring of nerve signals leads to widespread pain and fatigue, along with other symptoms such as cognitive issues. There are links to a chemical imbalance too. But more on this later.
A number of triggers have been identified as the cause including physical or emotional trauma such as stress, bereavement, injuries/accidents and major surgery.
There are a number of other specific abnormalities that have been identified as contributory factors. This is not a complete list, but includes internal inflammation, hormonal imbalances, leaky gut syndrome, fatty liver, deficiencies in vitamins and minerals, and sleep disorders.
The GOOD news is that there are plenty of things – simple things – that can be done to improve or eliminate many of these factors, and therefore increase the chances of a full recovery.
