I can’t emphasise enough how important it is to make sure you make time for yourself and give yourself time to do anything you want to do.  We get so caught up in the grind of day-to-day life and there’s always something that needs doing; it’s as if we permanently have a finger on fast-forward.  Making time for yourself, slowing down and getting to do things you enjoy is a major factor in reducing and managing stress levels.

 

Start by taking just ten or fifteen minutes every day to relax, maybe practice some deep breathing or meditation; by calming both body and mind your own central nervous system gets to wind down a bit.  

 

Think about things you would like to do but have felt you haven’t had time for.  Maybe there are hobbies or interests that inspire you that you could have a go at?  You can start slowly, start small, but within days you will begin to notice positive changes; it’s very satisfying to be able to start accomplishing your own goals rather than focusing on others.  

 

Always remind yourself that you are just as important as anyone else; it’s vital that you look after yourself and do things that make you happy.
