Meditation and Visualisation

‘Happiness resides not in possessions and not in gold; the feeling of happiness dwells in the soul’

Democritus

Even by taking a few minutes out to practice deep breathing you can immediately improve your state of mind and feel more relaxed and calm.  Meditation is an exceptionally valuable tool to learn because it has so many far reaching benefits to both body and spirit.  It helps reduce stress, calm the nervous system and relieve muscle tension to name but a few.

Visualisation is also a very powerful tool to help you focus your mind.  Using visualisation activates your subconscious and helps the creative ideas to start flowing which can see you achieving your goals.  Furthermore visualisation encourages positivity and motivation, starts programming your brain to accept changes and helps to activate the law of attraction which can draw people into your life who are relevant to your personal success.

The best part is, visualisation is incredibly easy to do and very simple.  All you need to do is make yourself comfortable, relax as much as possible, close your eyes and visualise your perfect scenario.  You may choose to visualise yourself and how you wish to look and act – start focusing on the details and picture yourself as vividly as you can.  Alternatively you can visualise what you would be looking at if your dream had already been accomplished, taking in – or creating – as much detail as possible.

Visualisation can be used as part of a meditation or prayer, or can simply be done at any time of day when you have a few minutes to spare.  You can combine it with positive affirmations and statements to make it even more powerful.

So think of your goal and write a positive statement about it (always talk in the present tense) and keep repeating this to yourself.  This helps you to remain focused on your goal and reinforce your motivation.  It can help you to change your own beliefs and opinions about yourself, and move forward in a positive and purposeful manner.
