Proverbs and Sayings

‘Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome’

Samuel Johnson

As you may have noticed, I love sayings!  I started looking some up on the internet, looking for inspiration and can’t recommend them enough for giving motivation.  There are several that have really helped me battle on.  I use them as bookmarks, I stick them on my fridge, I have some on my wall at work, just constant reminders to keep me on track.

The quote above from Samuel Johnson has to be one of my all-time favourites, and it’s the one that inspired me to set up this website.  It’s so very easy to be completely overwhelmed with a chronic illness and the very daunting range of symptoms.

One of the most valuable tips I learnt was the importance of taking ‘baby steps’; don’t think too big.  Don’t look at the whole big picture, but look at small ‘do-able’ chunks.  Start small, don’t try and deal with all the symptoms in one go, but focus on individual parts.  Once one area starts improving, it’s a real boost to the confidence and morale and other factors will start improving too.  This can be applied to any aspect of your life, whether it’s dealing with illness, starting a new exercise programme, taking up new hobbies, anything at all.  Baby steps, and don’t worry about whether anything will or will not work.  Live for the moment and never give up trying.

There are plenty of web-sites offering a wealth of quotes on all manner of subjects, so it should be easy to find ones that strike a chord within you.
