Positive Thinking
‘With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts’
Eleanor Roosevelt
You always have to remember that things could be worse. There are people out there who are suffering far more. These are not life-threatening conditions and that in itself is a lot to be grateful for.
Make a list of all the things you are grateful for, whether it’s having a roof over your head, or healthy, happy children, an impending holiday, a loving family, a job, ANYTHING!
Sometimes I’m just eternally grateful for an opportunity to sleep! I have far more appreciation for the simple things in life, I savour moments and live very much in the present. Practice gratitude on a daily basis; every morning when you wake up think of 3 things that you’re grateful for, and say thank you, and over time there will be a subtle shift in your nature towards more positive energies.
Focus on how things have improved; I found it very easy to forget how much better some symptoms were, simply because I still felt awful. But when I remember how I used to feel, or read back to past times in my diary, I appreciate how far I’ve come in my own personal battle. It’s just very, very easy to forget any progress when there are so many aspects causing such diverse trauma.
If you’re having a bad day then you have to accept that that is what it is, don’t dwell on it, let go and keep reminding yourself that it WILL pass. Tell yourself that it’s a temporary blip and look for activities to divert your attention.
